Sony's workhorse HD camcorder for the UK market. The HDW790 will be familiar to Digi-beta camcorder users. This is the main rival to Panasonic's HDX900, with similar features, downconvertor, memory-stick setting storage, a black & white CRT, or colour LCD viewfinder. The HDW750 / HDW790 has 1080 line CCDs, so will be visibly sharper on a big screen than 720 line DVCPRO HD. However, the difference in resolution won't be discernable on a television.
