The DJI Ronin Stabilizer

The DJI Ronin Handheld Gimbal System is a step forward in the design of gimbal rig systems for small cameras. It features high end, precision engineering and machining, in a more robust design meaning it will be more durable in rough environments.

The user can achieve smooth stable footage with some of the most powerful and accurate digital gimbal motors available in any rig at the moment. The rig is made of far fewer separate pieces, meaning it all fits together as a package when rigging out of the box.

The DJI Ronin features locking clamps instead of custom allen screws, so the balancing and locking mechanisms are much faster. It has a custom battery design, will battery readout and no loose cables. There are no charging and power dangers of lipo batteries on the Ronin.
Follow mode and remote mode can be switched between extremely easily, and the custom iOS software which controls the unit is the simplest and easiest gimbal rig software on the market.
The Ronin can be operated in three different modes, which the system automatically switches between in response to the operator’s holding position:

‘Upright’ – the standard gimbal position held in front of the chest
‘Underslung’ – by simply turning the rig upside down and holding in the same way in front of the chest higher angled shots can be acheived with relative ease (to be reorientated in post). No other stabiliser can currently do this.
‘Briefcase’ – this low mode is acheived by gripping one the handlebars and dropping the rig down to the side of the body, allowing low angles and reducing the physical demand for the operator.
It can currently support Red EpicCanon C300Canon 5D and Blackmagic Cinema cameras, though an extension arm is due for release, which will allow the rig to accept longer bodies.

The rig also features two 12V D-tap power outputs, which can be used for powering accessories such as wireless LCS focus and monitoring devices.
